As we age, at some point the effects of gravity manifest in each of us. Genetics, the amount of sun exposure, whether or not we were ever a smoker and the amount of alcohol consumption will affect how rapidly our bodies and faces age. The face is one of the first places that show the effects of both our genetic pre-disposition to aging, as well as the other external factors that contribute to aging. Most of us will first notice some fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, followed by deepening of our smile lines or nasolabial folds. This then will progress to the formation of jowels and laxity of the skin of the face and neck. Some of the earlier changes can be treated with botox, dermal fillers and laser treatments, but the jowels and skin laxity are what brings most people to see Dr. Bandy requesting a face & neck lift. The procedure for lifting the face & neck varies depending on the amount of laxity and the areas that appear the most aged. Often times Dr. Bandy will include fat transfer or dermal fillers when performing a facelift to improve the the fullness of the face more typically present in youth. Surgical incisions vary and the direction and depth of the facelift will vary depending on the issues being treated. Face & neck lifts also give an emotional lift to each person having the procedure, as it helps them to look more in line with the way they feel.
